Flower Essences
Versatile, pure flavorings add an exotic hint of flowers to both savory and sweet foods
Cortas is known for the purity of its all-natural, extra-fine aromatic essences: Orange Blossom Water, mazaher, is a flavoring distilled from the white flower of the bitter orange tree. Rose Water, mawared, is a flavoring distilled from the pink petals of a wild rose. Cortas Pure Flower Waters contain a high ratio of flowers to water, a quality that distinguishes them from other brands.
Used sparingly, Cortas Pure Flower Essences add the exotic hint of flavor characteristic to Middle Eastern desserts, food and beverages. Western cooks have found them to be extremely versatile in the preparation of many sweet and savory foods, as well.
In a May 1997 article, for example, Fine Cooking magazine suggests using Cortas Pure Flower Essences in salads, stews, Turkish delight, traditional French Christmas bread (pompe de Noel), or any crepe batter, pastry dough, sponge cake or candy.
Tips
- Always use sparingly!
- Add Orange Blossom Water to any recipe that calls for orange rind or juice, even chocolate chip cookies; use with pilaf or stew with dried fruit or ham glaze.
- Substitute Cortas Pure Flower Essences for vanilla extract in dessert and ice cream recipes.
- Sprinkle Cortas Pure Flower Essences over fresh fruit or fruit salad or into lemonade.
- Add a few drops to carbonated or non-carbonated mineral water for an original, no-calorie drink, or splash into mixed drinks. Mimosas benefit from the addition of Orange Blossom Water; vodka martinis go especially well with Rose Water. |
